Work is underway on plans to transform a former ballroom in Liverpool city centre into residential accommodation.
The site on Parker Street is set to be changed into studio and one-bedroom apartments as part of Caro Developments’ plan for the site.
Contractors will be converting the upper floors and rooftop of the building to create 91 modern city centre apartments.
Once home to the iconic Reeces Ballroom, famous for being the venue of John Lennon’s first wedding, the site will now be known as the Parker Street Residences.
Planning permission was initially granted for the development earlier this year, with designs by architects Falconer Chester Hall.
Located within Clayton Square, the apartments benefit from a central L1 postcode with all of the city centre’s amenities on the doorstep.
This location will make the apartments ideal for young professionals working in the city centre.
Lee Darwen, operations director at Caro Developments, said: “We are delighted to announce that construction work has begun to transform the former Reece’s Ballroom into the Parker Street Residences.
“Having Nobles on board is extremely exciting and we are happy to be working alongside them to regenerate the Parker Street building and launch a new era of city living in Liverpool.”
