Plans to merge Arrowe Park, Clatterbridge and the Countess of Chester hospitals are again back on the agenda following an NHS report.
Leaked emails last month revealed that all three services could be moved into a purpose-built site in Ellesmere Port but healthcare bosses downplayed the prospect.
But Arrowe Park’s parent company Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have revealed the plans in its annual report for 2015/16, according to the Liverpool Echo.
“The trust will explore with Countess of Chester Hospital the potential for the development of a single acute general hospital covering Wirral and west Cheshire within the next 10-15 years”, the report stated.
Another plan mooted in the report could see all surgeries and procedures moved to Clatterbridge while Arrowe Park deals with accident and emergencies.
