Liverpool FC could hand Adam Bogdan return ahead of Europa League final

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Adam Bogdan could return to action for Liverpool ahead of next week’s Europa League final.

The Hungarian goalkeeper last featured for the Reds in January’s FA Cup third round encounter with Exeter City and prior to last weekend’s win over Watford, had not featured in a match day squad since February’s League Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

With Liverpool’s focus shifting towards next Wednesday’s encounter with Sevilla in Basel, first-choice stopper Simon Mignolet is expected to be rested for the club’s Premier League season finale at West Brom.

Klopp has previously used Danny Ward as Mignolet’s understudy, but with the Wales international recovering from a knee problem and academy goalkeeper Shamal George also currently injured, the Liverpool manager has hinted that Bogdan may be in line for a recall at the Hawthorns.

He said: “It’s not too easy at this moment.

“Wardy is another three days and he should be back. He’s just resting but nothing serious. That’s the diagnosis in this moment.

“Shamal is injured so Adam Bogdan could play, of course. We will see what we do but (against Chelsea) there is no thought about anything else. We will see what we do on Sunday.

“Of course there’s risk but what is without risk in life? You have to take it and not to think too about things.”
