Klopp ‘devastated’ by Liverpool parade crash

Jurgen Klopp admits he is ‘shocked and devastated’ by the crash which overshadowed Liverpool’s Premier League trophy parade.

A car ploughed into fans celebrating Monday’s event in the city centre shortly after the bus passed, leaving over 50 people needing hospital treatment.

Klopp had returned to Liverpool to take in Sunday’s season finale with Crystal Palace after which his former charges were presented with their 20th title.

The German also watched Arne Slot’s side as they made their way down the Strand just moments before the traumatic event in Water Street took place.

“My family and I are shocked and devastated,” Klopp wrote on Instagram.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured and affected. You’ll never walk alone.”

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard also took to social media, having also been at Anfield to see the culmination of his boyhood club’s campaign.

“Shocked, sickened, and saddened at the incident we all witnessed in our city last night,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people involved and their families.”
