Arne Slot insists he will continue to select Trent Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool’s season finale.

Alexander-Arnold faced unprecedented backlash during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal after confirming that he intends to leave the club this summer.

The England international was audibly booed before, during and after the game by home supporters with a free transfer to Real Madrid anticipated.

But Slot is adamant Alexander-Arnold will not be taken out of the firing line while refuting suggestions that his introduction turned the tide of the game.

He also confirmed the Reds’ vice-captain will play a role in his side’s final outing against Crystal Palace after which they will lift the Premier League title.

“I don’t think there’s any possibility of anything taking the edge off us winning this 20th league title,” said Slot.

“The thing I have to consider is I want to win a game of football and, if I think we can win with Trent, I owe it to his teammates and to the fans [to play him.

“Because the club hired me to win as many games of football as possible. If I think there’s a better chance of winning with Trent, then I will [pick him].”
