226th Merseyside derby rescheduled for next month

The 226th Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton will take place next month.

February’s original clash between the sides was postponed owing to the Reds’ involvement in the Capital One Cup final but has now been pencilled in for Wednesday, April 20.

The Anfield clash, set to be Jurgen Klopp’s first as Liverpool manager, will be televised on Sky Sports and comes potentially three days before Roberto Martinez’s side play again in the FA Cup semi-final.

Dates for the Wembley showdown, where the Blues will face either Manchester United or West Ham, are yet to be confirmed but take place on the weekend of April 23 and 24.

Liverpool’s visit of Chelsea, postponed last weekend due to the Londoners’ FA Cup quarter-final clash with Everton, has also been rescheduled to a midweek game, on Wednesday, May 11. That game, however, remains subject to change.

Everton’s trip to Sunderland, also rescheduled from last weekend, will take place on the same date with a 7.45pm kick-off at the Stadium of Light.
