Ryan Gravenberch is on the verge of sealing a move to Liverpool.

Talks for the Netherlands international continued on Thursday after he missed training with the Bundesliga champions while his future was being resolved.

The Reds have since made a breakthrough in negotiations with their German counterparts by brokering a deal understood to be around £34 million.

Gravenberch is set to travel to Merseyside for a medical scheduled for Friday morning which is expected to tie up Jurgen Klopp’s summer transfer business.

The Anfield club have kept tabs on the 21-year-old dating back to his time at Ajax and are now set to land one of their primary targets in this window.

Liverpool’s interest in Gravenberch initially cooled earlier this summer amid the threat of Premier League rivals Manchester United planning to swoop.

But he will now become the fourth addition of Klopp’s midfield overhaul alongside Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

The Liverpool manager, meanwhile, has allowed homegrown defender Nat Phillips to join Celtic on a season-long loan in pursuit of regular first-team football.
