Liverpool have agreed a deal over Jordan Henderson’s departure.

Henderson sat out a 4-2 win for Jurgen Klopp’s side over Karlsruher in their opening pre-season friendly on Wednesday with his future still unresolved.

The Reds’ captain is being courted by former teammate turned Al-Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard to work under him in the fledgling Saudi Pro League.

Anfield chiefs have now agreed a fee in the region of £12 million which will set the wheels in motion for Henderson’s exit after 12 years at the club.

But speaking after the game, Klopp remained tight-lipped about developments relating the 33-year-old’s impending departure from Merseyside.

He said: “I don’t know that anything is decided, which means nothing to say in the moment.

“But that’s even better for you because you can speculate, which is much more fun! If I say something then it’s finished!

“In the end, all of these decisions are made by me, and because I respect the players a lot, it’s usually with consent.

“It was in this case, and it is all fine.”
