Liverpool’s new Anfield Road Stand has passed its latest big milestone.
Construction to expand the stadium’s capacity to beyond 61,000 began in 2021 and is set to conclude in time for the new Premier League season.
The latest step in the process saw the existing 282-tonne roof from the old stand lifted off by a team of 75 skilled engineers during a week-long process.
Two large cranes had to be built on the Anfield turf to conduct the sizeable task, which will now see the old roof processed for recycling purposes.
The Reds’ pitch underwent rigorous testing last year both at the stadium and their AXA Training Centre to factor in its post-demolition recovery time.
