Liverpool have been fined for their misconduct against Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were charged by the Football Association for players failing to conduct themselves ‘in an orderly fashion’ at the Etihad Stadium.

Diogo Jota, Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate were among the Reds’ players to confront referee Simon Hooper during a first-half incident.

The visitors felt the official should have issued a second yellow card to City midfielder Rodri for a foul on Cody Gakpo in the 34th minute of the game.

But the FA have since hit Anfield chiefs with a £37,500 fine for the act after they admitted the charge in the fixture, which Liverpool went on to lose 4-1.

“Liverpool FC has been fined £37,500 after its players surrounded the match official during the 34th minute of their Premier League game against Manchester City FC on Saturday 1 April 2023,” confirmed a statement.

“The club admitted failing to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and do not behave in a way which is improper.

“An independent Regulatory Commission imposed Liverpool FC’s fine following a subsequent hearing.”
