Liverpool have closed their investigation into coins thrown at Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City lodged a complaint against Jurgen Klopp’s side over the claims which surfaced following their 1-0 defeat at Anfield in October.
Reds officials pledged to impose lifetime bans on any supporter found guilty of launching projectiles in Guardiola’s direction during the game’s second half.
But despite studying CCTV footage and statements from stewards and fans close to the incident, no individuals were able to be clearly identified.
The game was overshadowed by off-field events as Klopp found himself sent off by referee Anthony Taylor for remonstrating with linesman Gary Beswick.
Liverpool also publicly condemned audible chants emanating from the visitors’ section which made reference to the Heysel and Hillsborough tragedies.
Guardiola later apologised on behalf of the Premier League champions for the unsavoury taunts despite admitting that he had not heard them at the time.
Both teams are set to kick off their post-World Cup break at the Etihad Stadium later this month in the Carabao Cup last-16 tie on December 22.
