Liverpool have appointed Jonathan Power as their new club doctor.
Power arrives as the direct replacement for Jim Moxon, whose departure from Anfield was confirmed in August just days before the start of the new season.
The West Derby-born physician spent nine years with the Football Association between 2012 and 2021 as the men’s team performance medicine doctor.
He was involved with the under-17s side that won the World Cup in 2017 under former Reds’ youth coach Steve Cooper as well as the under-19s team.
Power also served two years at the match day doctor for Brentford until as well as club doctor for rugby teams Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie.
He is expected to take formally take up the role when Jurgen Klopp’s side begin their World Cup break training camp in Dubai early next month.
News of Power’s appointment arrives at the end of a hectic week of change at Liverpool, with two senior recruitment figures set to leave at the end of May.
Julian Ward stunned the Anfield hierarchy by announcing plans to step down as sporting director at the end of the season, just six months into the role.
It also emerged that director of research Ian Graham is set to depart from his position next summer having tended his resignation in June after a decade.
