Liverpool will be without Luis Diaz until at least after the World Cup.
Diaz suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s Premier League defeat to Arsenal and left the Emirates Stadium on crutches with his leg in a protective brace.
The Colombia international underwent a scan on Monday that indicated he will not require corrective surgery on the problem picked up in the first half.
But the Reds will be without Diaz between six and eight weeks, sidelining him during their pre-World Cup schedule and potentially early into the New Year.
Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that the 25-year-old’s early prognosis was ‘not good’ and is still sweating on news over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury.
Alexander-Arnold twisted his ankle during Liverpool’s 3-2 loss in the capital and is already ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Rangers.
The England right-back is also doubtful for this weekend’s showdown with Manchester City as a result of the problem sustained late in the first half.
