Liverpool are sweating on injuries to Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Diaz was forced out at half-time of Sunday’s Premier League defeat to Arsenal with a knee problem after being caught in a challenge by Thomas Partey.

The Colombia international later left the Emirates Stadium on crutches with his left knee in a protective brace, sparking fears of a prolonged lay-off.

Alexander-Arnold also failed to feature after the break in the capital with a suspected twisted ankle from being trod on by Gabriel Martinelli late in the half.

Both players’ injuries will be assessed by the Reds but are already set to sideline them for Wednesday night’s Champions League trip at Rangers.

And Jurgen Klopp conceded that the pair’s early prognosis is far from promising.

He said: “Lucho we had to change before [half-time]. It’s something with the knee, not good.

“He will have a scan and then we will know more. I have no idea about the extent and then on top of that Trent is bad as well with the ankle.

“[Alexander-Arnold] twisted the ankle, not good. Trent never, in seven years, went off if he could have played on.

“He was in too much pain, it started swelling immediately, so we will have to see.”
