Virgil van Dijk is confident Liverpool will banish their early-season woes.
Jurgen Klopp’s side already find themselves 10 points off the pace in the Premier League following Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.
That result saw the Reds throw away 11 points from their first seven games ahead of testing month both domestically and in the Champions League.
Klopp admitted after the stalemate with the Seagulls that his players were struggling with a slight confidence of crisis in light of their recent results.
But Van Dijk is adamant that Liverpool can use those upcoming fixtures to aid their return to the levels of consistency which fuelled their end to last season.
He said: “You have to get in the moment, and that consistency is the most difficult part of football.
“You have to do that together, and deal with setbacks together, and keep doing the same things you want to do.
“Obviously we’ve had some setbacks, and it is difficult to react the right way if you are not in the best possible shape, all of us.
“But I’m confident that we will be. What is it four months ago we were playing for all the titles?
“Now we are not in the best moment, but we will get there.”
Asked to pinpoint why Liverpool’s defence has become so porous, Van Dijk added: “We are trying to put pressure on the ball, but teams are adapting to us as well.
“They try to go a little bit more direct at times, go in behind, and trying to put a second runner, because teams know we are having a high line.
“Obviously we changed that a little bit as well [but] it’s difficult.
“Brighton are a very good side, they played good football, they want to play football and they did, they insisted on it, they did well, we didn’t.
“That’s what we got, not what we deserve, but a point is better than losing.”
