Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss several weeks for Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold suffered a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s win at Arsenal, which saw Jurgen Klopp’s side move to within a point of Manchester City.
He has subsequently withdrawn from England’s squad for their friendlies with Switzerland and Ivory Coast during March’s upcoming international break.
The right-back’s spell on the sidelines is already expected to incorporate both legs of the Reds’ Champions League quarter-final with Benfica next month.
Liverpool are also braced for Alexander-Arnold to be laid low for a potential Premier League title decider against City on April 10 at the Etihad Stadium.
Klopp admitted on Friday that the 23-year-old, who has recorded 16 assists this season, will be a huge loss but his side still have contingency options.
He said: “Trent is out with a hamstring. He cannot be part of England as well – no good news, we will see how long that takes.
“Now we will see how long it will take but of course to replace Trent is difficult, but possible.
“We have Milly (James Milner) when he is not ill, we have obviously Joe (Gomez) and theoretically we can change system as well. We have a couple of options.
“He’s very influential, but if you have a look in the past when Millie had to step in, he did incredibly well. He just has to be available, then that’s fine.
“But what we do or how Millie will be for Sunday, I don’t know at the moment.
“If not, then maybe we have a very young solution, which is fine as well or Joe as well. We will have a look.
“I don’t know any player in the world who plays like Trent, to be honest. That would be difficult to find a one-to-one replacement.”
