Liverpool FC hit with third UEFA fine for supporter misbehaviour

Liverpool have been hit with a third fine by UEFA due to supporter misbehaviour.

The latest charges from European football’s governing body come barely 48 hours after the Reds were punished for their fans’ conduct during March’s Europa League win over Manchester United.

Anfield officials will be forced to pay out an additional €11,000 – over £8,000 – in fines to UEFA after supporters set off flares during Liverpool’s emphatic quarter-final comeback against Borussia Dortmund.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had to overcome a three-goal deficit in the remaining 25 minutes of their last eight encounter with the Bundesliga club.

But UEFA deemed that setting off fireworks inside Anfield stadium was a breach of their disciplinary code.

A decision on Liverpool’s other misconduct charges, in the first leg at Signal Iduna Park and during last week’s Europa League final defeat to Sevilla, are yet to be decided.
