Manchester United have escaped punishment from UEFA after their fans chanted about the Hillsborough disaster during their Europa League clash with Liverpool.
Visiting supporters aired number of abusive songs relating to the tragedy which cost the lives of 96 Reds supporters at the FA Cup semi-final in April 1989 at regular intervals during last week’s first leg of the last 16 encounter between the sides at Anfield.
But European football’s governing body insists that the Old Trafford club, who issued a statement condemning the actions, will not face further recriminations ahead of Thursday’s return leg as Liverpool hold a two-goal advantage across the tie.
United were also informed that UEFA will not be bringing retrospective action against Marouane Fellaini for his alleged elbowing of Emre Can in the final stages of last Thursday’s game.
