Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona will see Everton net a transter windfall.
Gordon is on the verge of a surprise switch to the reignng Spanish champions from Newcastle in a deal understood to be worth in the region of £70 million.
But the Blues are set to benefit from the deal to take the England international to Catalonia due to a sell-on clause in his 2023 move to St James’ Park.
David Moyes’ side stand to receive 15% of any future fees that the Magpies made from selling on Gordon, who left Merseyside for a deal of up to £45M.
That figure is expected to stand at around £10.5M which will be confirmed once the former academy graduate seals his move to the Blaugrana.
Gordon made 78 appearance after breaking into the first team at Goodison Park and helped the club successfully battle Premier League relegation.
However the 25-year-old left under a cloud after he missed first-team training on three consecutive days shortly before his defection to the North East.
Gordon insisted he ‘didn’t mean to disrespect or offend anyone’ connected to Everton in order to pursue the January move to Eddie Howe’s side.
