Everton explore PL rival pre-season friendly

Everton are considering a potential pre-season friendly in Scotland.

David Moyes’ side have yet to finalise any fixtures in their upcoming summer schedule but are said to be exploring the feasibility of heading north of the border.

Premier League counterparts Newcastle United emerged as the likely opponents with the prospective encounter being tipped for Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

It would be the Blues’ first match in Scotland since a double-header at the start of the 2015/16 campaign when they faced Hearts and Dundee, winning both games.

However the Murrayfield proposal is one of several Newcastle are exploring with the Chronicle claiming talks are ongoing with Roma, also owned by The Friedkin Group.

The Serie A outfit were the first opposition for the first senior men’s game at Hill Dickinson Stadium as the hosts suffered a 1-0 defeat in August’s friendly.

Moyes’ side also faced off against several top-flight counterparts as part of the Premier League’s Summer Series, held across the United States last summer.

They suffered defeats at the hands of Bournemouth and West Ham before holding Manchester United to a 2-2 draw with Iliman Ndiaye among the goals.
