Everton sell women’s team in PSR boost

Everton have sold their women’s team to a subsidiary of The Friedkin Group.

Official documents filed on Companies House confirmed that the WSL outfi is now under the sole ownership of Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited.

The vehicle is listed as being controlled by TFG’s leading figurehead Dan Friedkin and was created for their takeover of the Blues last December.

Brian Sorensen’s side are now free to attract independent investment from the United States after becoming a standalone entity from the men’s team.

However the move is also expected to aid Everton’s senior side in their efforts to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

A definitive figure of the sale has yet to emerge but could stand in the region of £60 million based on a similar move by several of their domestic peers.

Chelsea and Aston Villa have previously sold off their respective women’s teams to internal affiliates despite them contravening UEFA guidelines.

The Londoners, who were crowned WSL champions last season, generated £200M while Villa’s sale to owners’ parent company V Sports stood at £55M.

Everton will kick off the forthcoming campaign against neighbours Liverpool before hosting Tottenham in their new permanent home at Goodison Park.
