Everton Women have completed the permanent signing of Martina Fernandez.
Fernandez, 20, initially joined Brian Sorensen’s side on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona and was later named as the club’s Young Player of the Season.
The Spain under-23 defender will link up with international teammates Ornella Vignola and Inma Gabarro as the Blues’ seventh arrival of the summer window.
And Fernandez revealed that the chance to be part of the first women’s team to take up residence at Goodison Park was a driving factor in her decision to return.
She said: “I’m so happy.
“The past five months were amazing because of everyone: the girls, the fans – everyone. So I couldn’t say no at the chance to come back.
“I can’t wait, honestly. This big, historical stadium – I will really enjoy playing in it.
“I think playing at Goodison Park is not just good for us, it is good for women’s football in general for us to start playing here and having this as our own stadium.
“The girls in this team are so nice. The people in the city of Liverpool are amazing, I love the culture. It was so easy for me to feel at home here.
“I have a lot of friends here and I think that was so important because I truly feel at home.”
