Moyes reveals Everton plans as Travers signs

David Moyes has revealed Everton are ‘continuing to work’ on new signings after the arrival of Mark Travers.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Travers becomes the third arrival at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer in a deal understood to be worth in the region of £4 million.

The Republic of Ireland international has signed a four-year contract and joins Thierno Barry and Charly Alcaraz in making a close-season move to the Blues.

Travers’ capture will bolster the club’s goalkeeping ranks after Jordan Pickford’s understudies Asmir Begovic, Joao Virginia, Billy Crellin and Zan-Luk Leban all left.

He said: “I’m extremely proud and excited to be an Everton player.

“Coming in, you can feel how big this club is and the history that comes with it. You really feel that with the fanbase, the new stadium now as well and the direction the club is going in.

“It’s a fresh start for me to come up here and try a new chapter in my career.

“It’s a really exciting time to be part of this massive football club and I just can’t wait to get going.

“Jordan is an outstanding goalkeeper for club and country. I’m looking forward to competing with everyone here and being a Premier League player.

“Being in this environment is huge.

“We’re going to push each other every day in training and whatever happens on the weekend, we’re going to be there for each other and make the most of every opportunity that comes.”

Moyes added: “With Asmir and Joao leaving the club over the summer, we were looking for a goalkeeper with a level of experience to support Jordan.

“We are continuing to work on bringing in more players ahead of the start of the season.”
