Everton plan tribute to fan killed at new stadium

Everton are planning a ‘lasting tribute’ for the fan killed at their new stadium.

Michael Jones died on Monday after an accident while working as part of the construction team at the club’s future home in Bramley-Moore Dock.

The 26-year-old was a lifelong Blues’ fan who followed them home and away and whose family claim was ‘so happy’ to be help building their new stadium.

Following his untimely passing, Goodison Park officials have confirmed they are working with Michael’s family to deliver a fitting tribute in his memory.

“The loss of Michael Jones, a lifelong Evertonian who followed the Blues home and away, has left us all devastated,” read a club statement.

“The thoughts of everyone at Everton remain with Michael’s family, friends and colleagues.

“We will now be working with Michael’s family on an appropriate and lasting tribute.

“Michael Jones, forever in our hearts.”
