Richarlison makes Everton new deal vow

Richarlison wants to stay at Everton for ‘a long time’ after signing a new deal.

The Brazil international reaffirmed his commitment to Goodison Park by signing an improved contract on Tuesday that will tie him down until summer 2024.

Since a £40 million move from Watford last year, Richarlison has racked up 20 goals in 50 starts for the Blues and become a regular fixture with his country.

Everton chiefs moved quickly to secure the 22-year-old’s long-term future amid interest from several clubs including Manchester United over recent months.

But the prospect of leaving the blue half of Merseyside does not appear to have been a factor in Richarlison’s decision as he outlined plans for an extended stay.

He said: “I intend to be here a long time. This was the club which gave me the opportunity to show my football.

“It was here I managed to get a place in the Brazil national team and it was here I have scored lots of goals in the Premier League.

“The club trusts me and I trust them. The supporters have a lot of affection for me and I try to give back all this affection as much as possible on the pitch.

“I go out and put my life on the line for them. I try to sweat blood and tears for this club. I intend to continue honouring the shirt and making the fans happy.”
