Everton are investigating a racist gesture made to Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min.
Son was sent off during Sunday’s 1-1 draw between the sides at Goodison Park for a clumsy challenge that led to Andre Gomes being stretchered off.
The South Korea international appeared visibly distressed in the aftermath of the incident which saw Gomes taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
Camera footage showed a man in the crowd making an alleged racist gesture towards Son while the Blues were treating their midfielder on the pitch.
A statement from Everton Fan Services confirmed that the club was now probing the incident.
“Everton is investigating an alleged incident of racist behaviour by a supporter attending today’s fixture against Tottenham,” read a statement.
“Everton strongly condemns any form of racism. Any such behaviour has no place within our stadium, our club, our community or our game.”
