Everton confirm Lossl as first summer signing

Jonas Lossl has been confirmed as Everton’s first signing of the summer.

Lossl spent the previous two seasons at the John Smith’s Stadium but is set to join the Blues as a free agent when his current deal expires on July 1.

The Denmark international, 30, has agreed a three-year deal at Goodison Park and will provide cover for the club’s first-choice stopper Jordan Pickford.

Marco Silva is set to make a decision on the future of Maarten Stekelenburg, whose contract is in its final 12 months, and under-23 goalkeeper Joao Virginia.

Should the Everton manager decide on Virginia continuing with David Unsworth’s side for another season, Stekelenburg will become third-choice keeper.

Lossl joined Huddersfield on an initial loan from Mainz during 2017 and enjoyed spells with Ligue 1 outfit Guingamp and FC Midtjylland in his homeland.
