Tom Davies is set to sign a contract extension at Everton until summer 2023.
Davies has found himself used sparingly by Marco Silva during this season and made only three substitute appearances for the Blues in the past two months.
But the midfielder’s long-term prospects at Goodison Park appears more promising with a new deal that will safeguard his future for the next four years.
Celtic emerged as potential suitors for Davies in January but their loan bid was firmly rebuffed with Silva understood to be a huge admirer of the player.
The Everton manager has handed the captaincy to the 20-year-old on no fewer than five occasions this season, including against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Silva, meanwhile, has outlined his desire to qualify for next season’s Europa League despite a goalless draw at Crystal Palace hampering their bid.
A seventh-place finish would be enough to see Everton secure a continental return but are currently four points adrift with two games remaining.
“I don’t have the opinion that qualifying for Europe might be a disadvantage for the domestic season,” said Silva.
“For a club like Everton, we always have to aim to play European competition. Always, always, always.
“I have started a season early before. It’s not a problem if you prepare well. Of course it’s tougher, but the goal to play in Europe is bigger than any problem it causes.
“Our goal this time and our goal next season will be to qualify for Europe.”
