Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits that Manchester United were ‘thumped’ by Everton.
Sunday’s 4-0 rout over the Red Devils was the Blues’ biggest win over their North West rivals since 1984 as Solskjaer suffered a sixth defeat in his last eight games.
The Old Trafford boss admonished his players for the Goodison Park loss as it left them facing an uphill battle in their bid for Champions League qualification.
But Solskjaer was also acknowledging that Marco Silva’s side were a cut above.
He said: “That performance is difficult to describe because it was so bad.
“They beat us on all the basics: long throw – put your head in, our corner, they counter-attack and score, their corner, they score.
“We were beaten on all the ingredients you need, added to the talent. There is no place you can hide on the pitch.
“It was 85 minutes before we got a strike on target which is not good enough.”
The Norwegian paid tribute to the travelling United fans, adding: “We got thumped 4-0 and they never moaned at our players.”
