Everton FC targeting top 10 finish important for ‘integrity’ of Premier League

Roberto Martinez has set Everton a target of finishing in the top 10 of this season’s Premier League table.

Newly-crowned champions Leicester City and relegation battlers Sunderland and Norwich City await the Blues in their final three games of the campaign as they look to better their current standing of 11th, four points adrift Stoke City in the place above.

And with prize money and pride still to play for, Martinez insists Everton’s players have no intention of taking their feet of the gas before May 15 finale, citing last weekend’s win over Bournemouth as a much-needed catalyst.

He said: “Every position in the league has huge financial implications, and we have a huge role in terms of the integrity of the league.

“We will make sure we as good as we can be. We want to finish as strong as we can.”

“It was important to get back to winning ways (against Bournemouth),” he added.

“It was a game we had to find that winning feeling, now we can face the next three games with a real focus.

“Our home form hasn’t been good enough and we want to make sure that we finish at Goodison strong and give our fans that winning feeling.

“Away from home we’ve shown a different side.”
