Everton FC boosted in pursuit of Tim Howard’s potential replacement

Daniel Bentley has boosted Everton’s chances of signing him this summer by stalling on a new contract with Southend United.

The Toffees have been linked with a host of potential new goalkeepers following Tim Howard’s decision to return to the United States this summer, and are reportedly keen on the former Arsenal trainee.

Southend have already submitted a contract extension offer, however Bentley is looking to keep his options open.

He said: “My agent and I are in talks with Southend and they’ll be making an offer to me.”

“I’ve got to weigh up my situation,” he added.

“I want to play at the highest level, and if the chance to do that, then I will.”

Bentley has been ever-present in goal at Roots Hall this season, and the League One stopper is keen to move up won the football pyramid.
