Romelu Lukaku to sign new Everton FC deal this week

Everton are set to announce Romelu Lukaku’s new long-term contract this week.

Negotiations over the Belgium international’s long-term future have been prolonged despite his agent insisting a deal was ‘99.9% done’ in December.

Mino Raiola claimed last week that Lukaku was on the verge of agreeing terms to extend his current stay at Goodison Park beyond its summer 2019 expiry.

But the Blues’ record signing has now agreed a new five-year deal, understood to be worth in excess of £100,000 per week, which will be confirmed shortly.

Lukaku became Everton’s undisputed leading scorer in the Premier League era after scoring a second-half strike in last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Tottenham.

Ronald Koeman has regularly hailed the 23-year-old as ‘one of the best finishers’ he has ever seen and reiterated his importance during the hold-up in talks.
