Everton are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
Roberto Martinez has identified the England international as a potential incoming for the Blues in the close season as he continues to face an uncertain future at Old Trafford.
Carrick’s existing deal expires at the end of this season and with an extension yet to be offered, and the Daily Mirror claim Martinez is keen to snare a second player in as many years from United’s clutches.
Like Tom Cleverley, who joined Everton last summer, the United vice-captain, 34, would also be available on a free transfer.
But Carrick’s arrival would pose questions over the long-term prospects of Gareth Barry, with one year left to run on his own contract, at Goodison Park.
