Two Tesco stores in Liverpool have been targeted by masked gangs.
Police were called to the Tesco Express store on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley at around 12.40am on Wednesday after a reported break-in.
A quantity of cash was stolen and damage caused to the doors with four men in balaclavas on Sur-Ron bikes were seen travelling away from the area.
Officers were later alerted to a second burglary that took place at another Tesco Express also on Longmoor Lane a short distance from the original one.
A quantity of cash was again taken and four men in balaclavas riding Sur-Ron bikes were again seen leaving the area following the 2.45am break-in.
Detectives believe the two incidents are linked. An investigation is underway and CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are being carried out in the area.
DI Paula Jones said: “Due to the similar circumstances involved in both burglaries we believe these two incidents are linked and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to identify the people responsible.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area of Longmoor Lane, especially taxi or delivery drivers, to check their dashcams to see if they captured anything significant.”
