Police have arrested five Napoli fans following skirmishes outside Anfield.
Video footage emerged of ugly clashes between supporters of the Italian club and Liverpool before Wednesday’s Champions League group stage fixture.
Earlier in the day a number of Napoli followers had been walking around Liverpool city centre wielding several potential weapons including flag poles.
Although officers from Merseyside Police confiscated the items, further disorder broke out in streets near Anfield ahead of the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The force confirmed that three men were arrested for violent disorder while another for affray. Both arrests related to disorder on Walton Breck Road.
A fifth man was detained separately for breach of the peace at the turnstiles for the Anfield Road Stand.
