Weinstein sex assault claim made on Merseyside

An alleged sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein has been reported on Merseyside.

The Hollywood producer, 65, is under investigation for acts of sexual harassment towards numerous female actresses dating back to 2004.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie are among the high-profile figures making claims against Weinstein, who has been fired by his own production company.

Weinstein has ‘unequivocally denied’ all claims against him amid the New York Police Department’s plans to speak with one of the mogul’s alleged victims.

Merseyside Police have now confirmed that a report was received on Wednesday morning of an alleged sexual assault in the London area during the 1980s.

The force subsequently referred the claim to the Metropolitan Police.
