Bastion bar and restaurant unveils new Autumn/Winter menu

The Bastion Bar and Restaurant has launched its new Autumn/Winter menus.

Located inside the Shankly Hotel, ampoule diners have the choice between one that is great for lunchtime or those seeking scrumptious bar snacks, medicine and an A La Carte offering which features stunning starters and mains that are perfect for an evening out.

The restaurant is known for its signature dishes, particularly the guests’ favourite Beer Battered Fish and Chips and the famous Shankly Burger, so Signature Living has ensured that these are still on the new autumnal menu that launches today.

But to go with these fantastic favourites are some brand new show-stopping dishes including the succulent Hanging Chicken kebab with red onion and mixed peppers which comes with an array of side dishes including chilli butter, Mexican slaw and either rice or skinny fries.

There is also the option of a juicy Double Fillet Steak Sharer, which is cooked to the guests’ preference on a sizzling hot stone for two, with hand cut chips, pepper sauce, vine cherry tomatoes and flat cap mushrooms.

There is something for everyone on the versatile lunchtime menu, from hot sandwiches including the Steak Baguette and the Goats Cheese and Caramelised Onion sandwich which are perfect for warming up those crisp autumn afternoons.

But for those who want something a little more filling, there is a selection of hot dishes including the Famous Shankly Burger, 6oz Rump Steak and Crispy Southern Fried Chicken Burger too.

And there’s nothing better than sharing some great food with friends and family so the Bastion has introduced some stunning sharing platters that are ideal.

From the Great British Picnic which includes pork pies, cold meats, pate, breads, pickles, chutney and olives, to the delicious Asian platter which is packed with tempura prawns, Maryland crab cakes, sweet chilli chicken skewers, duck spring rolls and sweet chilli and satay sauce, which is sure to be a hit.

When it comes to the A La Carte menu, it’s difficult to decide what to choose from as all of the options are so incredible!

There is of course, the Hanging Chicken and the Double Fillet Steak Sharer, but also the beautifully cooked Pan Fried Salmon Fillet on a bed of crisp stir fry vegetables with soy butter, cavolo nero and toasted almonds, the delicious Oven Roasted Corn Fed Chicken Breast stuffed with wild mushrooms with a mixed bean stew, or even the hearty Braised Ox Cheek Hotpot with sauté new potatoes, pickled red cabbage and crusty bread.

There’s nothing better than finishing off a great meal with a show-stopping dessert though, and the Bastion has launched a whole new selection of sweet treats that you can tuck into.

Why not try the deliciously indulgent Cinnamon Doughnuts with a warm expresso dipping sauce and vanilla ice cream?

Or for those who enjoy a dessert which is both sweet and sour, there is the light Lemon Possett with salted caramel shortbread biscuit, passion fruit sorbet and crisp sweet basil or the why not try the silky-smooth Mango and Ginger Cheesecake with orange sorbet and candied peel.

For chocolate lovers, there is the impressive Chocolate and Orange Crème Brulee which is complete with a Grand Marnier chocolate flambé and vanilla cream.

But if you like sticking to classic desserts, both the warming Sticky Toffee Pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice cream, and the comforting Bread and Butter Pudding with apricots, sultanas and vanilla bean custard are sure to hit the spot.
