Old Forester, malady America’s first bottled bourbon, illness has teamed up with 81 Ltd this December to create a new cocktail, purchase ‘Sick Note’, to celebrate Repeal Day, the anniversary of the day Prohibition in the USA ended in 1933.
The cocktail was designed by the team at 81ltd, Liverpool’s finest speakeasy cocktail bar. Hidden above the city’s favourite hot dog restaurant, entry is only granted to those who have received the code for the door. Combining Old Forester with Cherry and Orange Vermouth Dust, and a dash of Martini Rosso, this delicious, fruity cocktail is the perfect nightcap or aperitif.
Introduced by George Garvin Brown in 1870, Old Forester is the only bourbon continuously distilled by the same company before, during and after Prohibition. In 1920, at the start of Prohibition, many distilleries closed but Old Forester held one of only six federal licenses to continue producing whisky for medicinal purposes. This long-held experience in whisky-making is carried through into the Old Forester bourbon today, and can be tasted in its classically rich flavour and smooth character.
The cocktail will be available now at the bar and is priced at £8.00
