Mamasan is already a Liverpool favourite with some of the most stunning decor this city has ever seen and as if they have not won hearts and minds enough, they have launched a new Sunday Roast Menu.
Inspired by the flavours of Southeast Asia, elevated with the best of British produce from farm, field & sea. The entire menu is produced from scratch including their latest Sunday offering.
The standard menu offer a choice of three starters which includes Chicken & Leek Terrine, Asparagus Dashi and Butternut Squash Red Curry Soup. Unfortunately due to the popularity of this menu, the Chicken & Leek Terrine was unavailable and instead we were offered “Duck Doughnuts” which were every bit as delicious as they sound. Plated up immaculately, we knew we were in for a treat.
The main course offers all your traditional trimmings with a “Mamasan” twist. We tried both the Ribeye Steak and the Asian Spiced Pork Belly. The Ribeye was cooked exactly as asked for and melted in the mouth – it was a huge portion and was thoroughly enjoyable. The Asian Spiced Pork Belly was an excellent portion sized and absolutely delicious, just the right amount of crispy crackling balanced perfectly with the Asian spices. The real stand out though, was the baby onion gravy – you could have given me triple helpings I still would have wanted more.
Other options include a Lemongrass Chicken and Salt & Pepper Cauliflower Steak. It should be mentioned that Mamsan can cater for any dietary requirement and have a wealth of vegan and veggie choices across all of their menus.
What really makes this place is how attentive the staff are, they really are excellent. Each member of staff is genuinely interested in what they are serving and are keen to get it right. The cocktail menu is extensive and the syrups for each are hand crafted by the staff weekly, knowing you are indulging in something truly special.
We opted to go for the full 3 courses and each chose one of the two options, the first being Sticky Toffee Pudding which is service with Caramelised Dates and Vanilla ice-cream. It was extremely flavoursome but light enough to not overwhelm you after a hearty Sunday Roast. The second option is the Blood Orange Cheesecake which is topped with fresh pieces of Blood Orange – it was super refreshing and sure to be a hit in the summer months.
The Sunday Lunch Menu offers excellent value for money at £25 for two courses and £30 for three courses. You could also make a real occasion of it by adding bottomless prosecco for £25pp. Pairing luxury with high quality delicious fayre – there is no wonder Mamasan is a firm favourite across the City.
