Lidl GB has confirmed that its new supermarket on Childwall Valley Road in Belle Vale, Liverpool, will open for the first time on Thursday 8th December.
To mark the opening of the discounters tenth store in the Liverpool area, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring attendance from school children at St Paschal Baylon Catholic Primary School who will be singing carols to help welcome customers.
The new, modern store will create around 40 new jobs for the local community, and, following the discounter’s recent wage increase, new starters will be paid the highest rate of any UK supermarket.
It features the supermarket’s famous in-store bakery as well as customer toilets with baby changing facilities. Ample parking for cars and bicycles will also be provided, including two electric car charging spaces.
On opening day, customers will be able to find exclusive deals and offers on selected products including a Sanitas Heated Blanket (£14.99) and a Sanitas Mani/Pedicure Set (£6.99), while a 24cm Tefal Frying Pan (£7.99) will be available on Saturday 10th December – all perfect presents this Christmas.
The store opening times are between 8am – 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday, delivering Lidl’s offering of fresh, quality and great value produce.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Stuart Jardine, commented: “It’s fantastic that we’re able to open our doors and welcome members of the community into our new Belle Vale store in time for Christmas. This is our tenth store in the area, and along with our want to invest in Liverpool, it aligns with our commitment to ensure as many people as possible have access to our multi-award winning, high-quality products at affordable prices.”
Lidl’s ongoing success shows no signs of slowing, with Lidl now the 6th largest supermarket in the UK. The discounter has a market share of 7.2% and was recently named cheapest supermarket in The Grocer’s ‘Super Grocer 33’ for the third time in a row – beating six major retailers, including Aldi. The index, which compares the price of 33 everyday grocery items across the UK’s seven major supermarkets, found Lidl to be £15.44 cheaper than Morrisons, and a whopping £27.88 cheaper than the most expensive retailer.
