Village Hotel Liverpool has unveiled its brand-new Pub & Grill following a £250,000 investment, offering locals and gym members alike all-day dining from 10am to 10pm. The all new Pub & Grill has launched with a brand-new menu, dining area and kitchen.
It is clear that no expense has been spared on this refurb – the area is friendly and inviting and is full of big screens showing various different sports. On entering what struck me was the mix of people in there on a Friday night – there were groups of young people enjoying a few after work drinks, couples on date night and families having a Friday night treat.
It should be mentioned that I personally had some concerns that this would be the sort of mass produced pub food that you would get in chain restaurants / pubs however I could not have been more wrong. We were sat at a lovely table close to a window (and a big screen so my other half could enjoy the Friday night football).
I was pleasantly suprised by the choices on the menu – there were some pub favourites such as Nachos and Chicken Wings but there were also some really exciting options I would not have expected to see. I opted for Roasted Sweet Potato Soup – this was served with a Chilli Yoghurt. It was perfectly balanced in terms of spice and provided the perfect point between sweet and spicy. My partner opted for the Chicken Tenders to start which was a huge portion of generously sized tenders which were seasoned beautifully and served with BBQ sauce.
It was suggested by the staff that we also share a portion of Korean BBQ Chicken Tacos as these were a staff favourite. The presentation of the dish was outstanding – nicer than some of the higher end establishments that I have dined in and very authentic. I really liked the street food vibe of this dish. Again the balance of the spice was spot on and we were off to a fantastic start.
We are both meat eaters and despite the numerous veggie options on the menu, we opted to go for the Fillet Steak (again, a staff recommendation). I ordered Bernaise Sauce to accompany my steak whilst my partner opted for Peppercorn. The dish was served beautifully on a wooden board with all of the trimmings you’d expect. I will fully admit that I am somewhat of a Steak snob however I have to say that this steak was the best I have had within Liverpool for quite some time.
The steak was a beautiful cut and it was clear that you get what you pay for. The steak was cooked absolutely perfect. The steak was so succulent that it did not need the sauce that we ordered however they were a lovely accompaniment to the chips and onion rings. Absolutely 10/10!
We had a little break in between courses because we were seriously full up! It was a Friday Night and the place was buzzing however the staff were able to stop, chat and offer super service. All of the staff we came across were really friendly and very informative when it came to the menu and wine choices.
We decided we could just about fit in a pudding – I opted for Frozen Hot Chocolate which was quite the spectacle. Served in a giant mug, it really did look like an actual drinkable hot chocolate. It was fun and something a little out of the ordinary. Aside from the presentation, it was delicious! Chocolatey, creamy goodness!
My partner opted for the Baked Vanilla cheesecake which again was served beautifully with a strawberry coulis and macerated berries. It was a simple dish but done incredibly well and way above the standard you would expect from your standard pub.
Our overall experience was excellent – we were in no way rushed and it was a really nice vibe in the pub on the Friday Night. It’s spot on for a date night and could be as chilled out or dressed up as you’d want it to be. It’s a place you could take the kids, mum, dad, partner, Nan, Grandad – the whole lot and there would be something for everyone in this friendly environment.
The standard of the food totally suprised me in the best possible way. The food was of a really high standard, way above pub grub and it’s great to find somewhere nearby that offers a relaxed family friendly vibed paired with top quality food.
There are tonnes of fabulous offers on throughout the week making this even more afforable. You can check out more information on offers here.
The Village Hotel Pub & Grill have aced this latest refurbishment and menu update and I am sure it will be extremely popular with the people of Liverpool.
