The Epstein Theatre has proudly launched its new brochure which reveals an exciting season of entertainment for autumn/winter 2016 – from hilarious comedy and gripping drama to amazing music and top tribute acts.
The new season starts with the triumphant return of Lennon Through a Glass Onion which celebrates the life, music and genius of John Lennon. Taking place from September 6-10, this smash-hit show blew audiences away and
received rave reviews when it made its Liverpool debut in April.
Part concert and part biography, Liverpool actor Daniel Taylor reveals the true essence of the life and astonishing talent of one of the world’s most treasured icons. Featuring 31 hits of Lennon and Lennon/McCartney including
Imagine, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, Woman, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Working Class Hero and Jealous Guy, this show is a must-see for any Beatles fan!
The season continues with more amazing entertainment! There will be fireworks at the theatre on November 5th with the brand new comedy The Ruby Slippers! This riotous show set in a Blackpool drag club explores love,
friendship and identity, taking audiences on a rollercoaster of emotions, screaming with laughter one minute and reaching for the hankies the next. So don’t be a drag, grab yourself a ticket and drag your man, wife, mother and
gran to The Ruby Slippers to be entertained at the campest new show to hit the stage in years!
And on the subject of comedy, the Epstein will have you laughing your socks off this autumn with its bumper line-up of stand-up-comedians. Just in time for the Liverpool Comedy Festival, September will see the some of the finest
funnymen in the land at the Epstein including Jarlath Regan, Carl Hutchinson and Craig Campbell.
The Epstein is also pleased to welcome back Viva Hypnosis starring Simon Warner, the world-renowned comedy hypnotist on 24th September.
The mirth and merriment continues with Jason Burne on 6th October, The Elis James and John Robins Experience on 18th October, The Boy with Tape on his Face on 19th October and James Acaster on 20th October. The UK’s premier comedy drag variety show – Paul Carroll’s Music Hall Tavern – comes to the Epstein on 28th October. And Tommy Tiernan takes to the stage refusing to take anything seriously on 24th and 25th November.
Music lovers are in for a treat with the Epstein’s musical offering which has something for everyone – from the energetic duo Graham Parker and Brinsley Schwarz (9th September) to Ally McBeal star Vonda Shepard (8th
October). Take a musical journey through the decades with Singing Our Socks Off on 9th October or listen to classics from the songbook of the legendary Lloyd Cole on 11th October.
Perhaps progressive rock is more your bag? Then don’t miss Focus on 13th October or enjoy a night of movies and musicals with The 4Tunes on 15th October. Meanwhile, the legendary Midge Ure will be playing all the
favourite hits from his 40-year-career as he brings his “Something from Everything” tour to the Epstein on 23rd October.
Show of Hands bring their Big Autumn Tour to the Epstein on 17th November, Julia Fordham is Live By Request on 19th November and Roachford celebrates his maverick take on music on 20th November.
The Epstein Theatre will also introduce some of the world’s best tribute acts over the next few months from Purple Rain – A Celebration of Prince (15 and 16 September), Fleetwood Bac (17th September) and Limehouse Lizzy
keeping Thin Lizzy’s music alive (1st October) to Supreme Queen (14th October) and Letz Zep, the official number one tribute to Led Zeppelin (21st October). Don’t miss Nearly Dan – A Tribute To Steely Dan on 22nd October,
Money for Nothing, Europe’s No.1 Dire Straits Tribute on 27th October, Talon – The Best Of Eagles on 18th November or T.Rextasy – I Love To Boogie on 26th November.
Sport lovers can celebrate their heroes on stage too. For Blues fans, The Ball of Fire celebrates the soccer skills of Alan Ball on 12th October, and Ned Boulting’s Bikeology will have cyclists in a spin on 9th November.
For a great girls’ night out, The Dreamboys provide a night of music, muscle, magic and mayhem on November 4th.
But why should the grown-ups have all the fun? The younger audience hasn’t been forgotten with some cracking kids’ shows to fuel their imagination. The Carmen Maria Academy will preset Alice in Wonderland on October 16th,
the well-loved tale of The Railway Children will be brought to life on 25 and 26 October and The Little Mermaid will make a splash on 29th October.
Audiences are bound to ask for more when Oliver The Musical brings Charles Dickens’ beloved novel to life on 11th November.
And if you thought the season opened with a flourish, then just wait until you see how it closes with Liver Birdsong, the Liverpool blitz musical receiving its world premiere in what is sure to be the first step on its journey to becoming a beloved classic from 29th November to 3rd December.
This of course, leads us in to our favourite time of year, panto season! LHK Productions presents Aladdin, the story of a Chinese street urchin, which is sure to take you on a magic carpet ride of excitement from 8th December to
8th January. And the nation’s favourite fairytale Cinderella will fascinate your little princes and princesses on 13th December.
