The Zanzibar Club is set to have a new lease of life in Liverpool city centre.
News of the iconic music venue’s closure was confirmed after providing a platform for grassroots artists and established names during the previous 35 years.
Noel Gallagher, The Libertines, The Coral and Miles Kane were among the high-profile names to take to the stage in its three-and-a-half decade spell.
A pub is set to take its place on Seel Street after the Zanzibar officially shuts its doors on the weekend of November 1 but the space will live on in the area.
Live music performances will move a few hundred yard away to the basement of Heebie Jeebies under a new name which is yet to be announced.
Heebies has proved a popular spot for live music several nights a week and is set to make it accessible even more across each week.
The Zanzibar initially closed in 2020 after suffering devastating financial losses during the COVID-19 pandemic but was later revived by a local independent.
