Paul McCartney to play Liverpool homecoming gig

Sir Paul McCartney will return to Liverpool as part of his latest UK tour.

The Beatles legend has confirmed plans to perform in his native city on Wednesday, December 12 as part of his Freshen Up concert shows.

Sir Paul played a surprise gig at the Philharmonic Pub while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden in Liverpool last month.

But the 76-year-old has not embarked on a UK tour date since 2015 admits that the December show at the ACC Arena is one he is already relishing.

He said: “There’s nothing like performing in front of your home crowd, especially when it’s been a while.

“I can’t wait to finish the year on such a high by partying in Liverpool, Glasgow and London.

“We’ve freshened up the show since our last time round and we are excited to get to play some of our new songs alongside some of the favourites.”

Tickets go on sale on Monday, July 16 at 10am and can be booked at echoarena.com/paulmccartney
