Review: The Mousetrap at Liverpool Empire

Set on a cold winter’s day, snow falls heavily outside a guest house as the owners await their first guests.

A motley crew arrive, one of which may or may not be a “maniac” around two hours later, in true Agatha Christie style, we know exactly whodunnit.

The production is currently touring and is at the Liverpool Empire Theatre for the next two days.

The set is interesting, it seems almost Cluedo like, except we already know where the murder took place. In the Lounge.

The audience are told to keep the secret of exactly who dunnit under their hates or “locked in your hearts” to be precise.

With this in mind, it’s difficult to give a full and frank review of the goings on but what I can say is that the plots twists and turns are crucial to the performance.

There are light hearted moments that offers chuckles here and there.

Once a joyous childrens nursey rhyme, Three Blind Mice may turn to be a song that will haunt you following this performance.

Directed by Ian Watt-Smith, this show has no signs of slowing and appeals to audiences world wide. It’s a classic and one people get really excited about.

This piece of theatre is still truly gripping with everyone wanting to know exactly who did do it… to find out, you must go and see this truly wonderful piece of cinema.
