Students at Liverpool Theatre School will be putting on a special production of Blood Wedding this month (20 – 22 November). The classic play, written by Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, is open to members of the public and will run for three nights at Liverpool Theatre School, Aigburth Road.
The cast features students in the final year of their three year diploma course in professional musical theatre, which is validated by Trinity College London.
Blood Wedding is a surreal tragedy about a death bound love triangle. Set in rural Andalusia, the play examines the socialite norms that keep a woman from being with the man she loves.
Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see a brilliant piece of writing brought to life by an extremely talented group of performers.
“I would urge anyone with an interest in theatre to come along and enjoy the show. It’s set to be a fabulous production.”
Liverpool Theatre School is only one of three places in the north of England to offer a full time diploma in professional musical theatre, validated by Trinity College London. The school is also the only place in Merseyside to offer a diploma in professional acting, validated by Trinity College London.
Liverpool Theatre School, established in 1939, attracts students from across the country and abroad as well as Merseyside. Many of the school’s graduates have appeared in top West End musicals and tours including Oliver Ormson, who has appeared in Cinderella, The Book of Mormon, Westside Story and is currently touring with The Addams Family.
