Police launch CCTV appeal into Norris Green robbery

Detectives investigating a robbery at a bank in Norris Green have released some CCTV footage of a man they would like to trace.

The incident took place outside of the Lloyds TSB on Wednesday, and November 9 at around 11.50am when a security guard was outside of the bank.

A lone offender assaulted the guard before stealing the cash box, with a significant quantity of money inside.

The guard was uninjured but left shaken by the ordeal.

DCI Neil Shaw said: “Cash in transit robberies are not victimless crimes.

“On this occasion the guard was assaulted by the offender and while he wasn’t injured, I think it’s important to remember that he was just trying to do his job and to be attacked like this is completely unacceptable.

“I’m appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.

“I’m sure people would agree that the person responsible needs to be brought to justice and I’d ask anyone who has any information.

“I’m particularly keen to trace the man on the CCTV, as he may be able to assist with our investigation.”

The scene has been forensically examined and witnesses spoken to. CCTV from the bank and surrounding area is continuing to be examined.

Officers would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
