City food festival helps raise cash for children’s Cancer charity

The organisers of Liverpool Food and Drink Festival announced today that its chosen charity this year had raised over £2000 at the September event.

CLIC Sargent, diagnosis is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, sickness and their families, giving them vital emotional, practical, clinical and financial support during and after treatment.

The charity hosted a number activities at this year’s festival in Sefton Park on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September, entertaining record numbers of festival-goers with performances by buskers and young musicians within the street food area, and also doing mini-makeovers with hair braiding and henna tattoos as part of the popular Kids Village zone.

Jayne Moran – Area Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent said: “We are delighted Liverpool Food and Drink Festival chose to support our work, their involvement will make a real difference to the lives of young people with cancer. Thanks to the festival’s backing, and the generosity of visitors, we’ve managed to raise £2018.90 with which we will be able to support even more children, young people and their families through the hardest of times.”

A Liverpool Food and Drink Festival spokesperson added: “A large scale event like the festival is an effective way for charities to reach out to a massive audience who may not be aware of them. Not only have CLIC Sargent raised much needed funds but also increased the awareness of the amazing work that they do in helping families whose lives have been affected by cancer.”
