Police Officers have arrested two men, following a road traffic collision on Aigburth Road yesterday afternoon (Saturday, 3 September.)
A suspected stolen Audi car was in collision with a Mercedes van at around 4.55pm. The vehicle had earlier been pursued by officers.
The fire service and ambulance service attended and a man and a teenage girl from the van, were taken to hospital. At this time their injuries are described as serious but not life threatening – the girl is being treated of a suspected broken leg and the man was suffering from chest pains.
The two men from the car have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving and one has been taken to hospital where he is being treated for a suspected broken leg.
Part of Aigburth Road southbound has been cordoned off and motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible, while collision investigators are in attendance.
Officers from the force’s Professional Standards Unit have been informed of the collision and the matter will be referred to the IPCC, due to the earlier police contact.
