Police have released CCTV of a man in connection with a dog attack in Walton Hall Park.
The incident took place on Friday, August 19 at around 9.40am when a woman and her dog were set upon by what is described a red-nosed Pit Bull mix.
After the Pit bull had attempted to bite the dog and the woman’s coat, causing both distress and damage, its owner put it on a lead and walked away.
Extensive CCTV enquiries have proved negative and images are now being issued of the dog and the owner, in an attempt to identify both.
Neighbourhood Inspector Sarah Jones: “We are keen to find the man pictured to help with our enquiries.
“Police patrols searched the park for the dog and owner and neighbourhood officers will be keeping an eye out for it so that the owner can be spoken to about this incident.
“We have been given information that a similar dog may have been responsible for attacking and biting other dogs previously in the park.
“Anyone walking their dog in our local parks needs to be mindful of their dog’s behaviour at all times and keep their pet on a lead if it is liable to be aggressive towards other park users.
“We will not tolerate irresponsible dog ownership on Merseyside and want to maintain all our parks as safe and welcoming places to be.”
Anyone in the community who has any information about this incident to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
